Marrakech was a city that had been high on my bucket list for the last few years and after images of its iconic red walls kept popping up on my Instagram feed I knew I just had to book flights for myself and my husband. And boy was I glad that I did, Marrakech totally exceeded my expectations and I’m already trying to plan a trip back to explore more of the Morocco.
Marrakech is a charming city and like the snake charmers in Jamaa El Fna its sights, sounds and smells will just suck you in from the moment you arrive, encouraging you to get immersed in its traditions; from haggling in the souks, drinking mint tea in quaint riads to getting lost in the medina’s narrow streets. In recent years, Riga has grown in popularity as a weekend city break destination and I can totally see why after spending a fun filled weekend there in December. There is so much to see and most of the sites are in and around the UNESCO protected Old Town and all in easy walking distance of each other, so wrap up well, get your comfortable shoes on and have a read of my 6 reasons to visit Latvia’s stunning capital city. When my good friend and I said we were going to Copenhagen everyone’s initial thought was the Little Mermaid but there is a lot more to this Scandinavian city than this small statue such as its colourful houses and beautiful architecture, delicious food, great cafés, unusual neighbourhoods, stunning views, fascinating history and great day trips. Valladolid isn’t on most peoples travel list when visiting the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico but I think it should be. This charming and perfectly preserved colonial town is only 2 hours from Cancun and 2.5 from Tulum and it makes a great base for exploring Mexico’s famous Mayan ruins and numerous cenotes. (more…)
So a lot of people ask me when is the best time to book flights – should you wait until the last minute when (theoretically) the airline is desperate to get rid of the last few seats, should you book as early as possible once you know what dates you will be flying or should you just keep an eye on flights and try to gauge what way the prices are going? Well fear not, this article will (hopefully) point you in the right direction so you can avail of as many cheap flights as possible and hence, go on as many holidays as possible!! Based on studies by CheapAir (who took data from 3 million airline trips), Momondo (who looked at an astonishing 7.5 billion flights) and SkyScanner (who looked at data from 250 million flights), they all had similar findings. CheapAir found that 54 days prior to the flight is the optimum time to book, Momondo found that 53 days was the best and SkyScanner reported that 49 days is the best. Overall, it seems that any time in the 7-8 week window is cheapest time to book.
